TECH VS Coqui - Hide and Go Seek
An Open Source/Hack-a-thon/Volunteer Project
Problem Statement: Coqui Frogs are invasive to the Hawaiian Islands. They're coming for Oahu...
Current Management: Community and Field Crews are fighting the good fight in the forests
Mission Success = Keep frogs isolated and manage them down - Forever...
Mission Failure = Frogs Established in the Cities.
End State: Let's see if we can't built some digital tools for the community and field crews battling it out on the ground.
MVP: Create a set of tools to provide >75% accuracty rate (Distance and Direction) on frog positions.
MVP Success criteria: Goal Zero in within 1 Meter via End User Device for application of management solution.
Idea 1: Use the hardware available locally to build a detection network. Use End User Devices to "zero in" on the frog. This focuses on targeted removal by community and field crews.
Idea 2: Develop specialized fix station hardware (can we reuse some Alexa Sensors?). Early detection application that can be deployed across the Amazon Alex Network, iPhone, Android Network - It just collects and reports the position of frogs for ingest into a heat map. Uses the devices GPS location anonomized to publish data points. - This allows non-invested areas to know they are non-infested. This allows for early detection of the frog. The frogs are nocturnal so we need things working while we're sleeping.
